Chacombe gathered to light a commemorative beacon on Berry Close. As the evening drew in at 9.30pm it became clear that it was a thought- provoking event. Both a moment for celebration and contemplation of current world events. A few words were said by Andrew Taylor, Chair of the PCC and by Rev. Robert Jones. As many Villagers gathered the beacon was lit by Mick Steel, long-time resident and someone who remembers VE Day as a young member of the Home Guard.

It was good to see so many turn out on a chilly, but dry evening. Especially heartening to see a few younger Villagers showing their respect for our history.
